I did a fantastic bike tour with Ivan, he told me all about the history of this beautiful town and took me to some beautiful spots including a jewellery workshop and a great local ice cream shop. It was fun moving around by bike, recommended

Very good service from Ivan. We dis the city tour and Cienaga Tour. Both very good. The city tour on a motor bike, well explained, great insights into the history of Mompox and it's 7 churches. It's amazing to know that Mompox hundreds of years ago was an arrival port from people as far as Lebanon. It's amazing to see that in the Immaculate conception plaza many people from faraway lands traded there.
The second tour was the highlight of our trip. A 3 hour river and Cienaga Tour. The guide was knowledge and kept pointing where to find wildlife. Without that, I would have missed so many animals. We start at the river and right away we see tiny fish jumping off the water. Suddenly we see iguanas. Different types and many during the tour. Also the birds, so many and so beautiful. We saw a rare bird that it's feathers looks like a leopard skin. There was a red eagle, many other eagles , so many tiny birds,
The long channel that connects the river and Cienaga is so amazing to navigate because is several miles of a narrow passage no more than a two lane road, with nature in both sides.
The actual Cienaga looks like a large lake, but as they mentioned, is not very deep.

If you're visiting Mompox, do make time for a tour of the Cienaga de Pijiño! Beautiful landscape, a lot of wildlife and amazing views on the village at sunset on the way back. I highly recommend you organize the tour with Turismo Mompox. While other boats rushed to the Cienaga and back (the big party boat didn't even ggo all the way to the Cienaga), our very knowledgeable pilot took time to go along the shores and show us all the wildlife. The tour was around 3h for 40.000 COP.

Una excursión imprescindible en tu visita a Mompos es ir a ver la Cianaga de Pijiño. Esta excursión parte del muelle de la plaza de la iglesia de San Francisco, la misma donde está la agencia Turismo Mompos. La excursión viene a durar tres horas (3pm a 6pm).
Durante esta excursión podrás conocer y ver la naturaleza y fauna de la zona. El día que la realicé pude ver gran variedad de aves, iguanas e incluso monos aulladores. Luego podrás bañarte en la Cienaga por lo que sugiero llevar bañador y de vuelta verás el atardecer recorriendo el río Magdalena.
Aconsejo realizar esta excursión con la agencia Turismo Mompos porque es muy profesional. El personal de la agencia (Ivan) me explicó previamente en que consistía la excursión y su atención fue muy amable y competente. Durante la actividad el guía localizó una gran cantidad de animales y nos explicó muchas cosas interésantes. La lancha que empleamos era muy comoda y segura. Te prestan chaleco salvavidas.
Por todo esto, recomiendo 100% hacer la excursión a la cienaga de Pijoño con Turismo Mompos.
